Yahoo News has the article Swedish spruce may be world's oldest living tree on the find of a stand of spruce trees with an 8,000-year-old root system in Dalarna, Sweden. The hardy Norway spruces were found on the mountain range Kjølen that separates Norway and Sweden. The bristlecone pine Metuselah in California’s White Mountains is estimated to be 4,500-5,000 years old, and often it has been said to be the world's oldest living tree.
