Back Story: Atia was raised in Roma. Her mother's death of illness when she was thirteen severed many of the ties her father had with other patrician families in the city. As a result she was married to a young member of the Claudius family in hopes that the union and dowry would reinstate her father's connections. Six years into the marriage Atia had failed to provide any living children and was shamed with divorce on grounds of infertility- her father was disgusted by this and essentially disowned her while remaining on good terms with her husband's family. Atia's mother's family came to her aid in providing an estate that belonged to her late grandmother on the Palentine where she currently lives. Atia hates all Claudians and feels that their treatment of her was unfair and cruel.
