    I have never really thought much of the system of laws as used by either Canute or William. However, I did think of one thing that Maria pointed out about the multilayered system.

    We still have a multilayered system of laws at lest in the USA.


    Civil law for all of us peasent serfs

    and

    Military law for all the norman army, navy, airforce and marines.
