I took our oldest cat, Jack, to the vet yesterday for a couple of problems. Apart from his eye, he has been having problems with his butt for a a couple of weeks now. It was pretty clearly not his kidneys, since he was paying a lot of attention to the underside of the base of his tail.

The verdict: clogged scent glands. The vet squeezed some really nasty gunk out of them and today Jack is feeling like his old self. This happens to dogs with some frequency, but is very rare in cats. Something to keep in mind, though, if your cat acts a bit like it has worms but definitely doesn't.
