Catharina, the hierarchy works like this:

Jot is the cybergod. He's the builder of the site and works behind the scenes fixing those areas that we can't, developing new areas, etc. He does this (like all of us) in his spare time. Unfortunately for us, he has had precious little spare time over the past few years. Hopefully soon that will change and he will be able to spend more time revamping the site. He has promised to spend this summer working on the image gallery which will need to be completely redone to fix the problems there. You will almost never see him online as he much prefers coding and developing when he can.

Demigods are next. We, too, are volunteers as well as paying members of the site. We are the 'face' of AW admin. We do most of the bug hunting, editing, CofC enforcement, and help monitor the site. We're admin at the sitewide level though we have split the worlds around us just to make it easier for the scribes. When folks make a bug report, we're the ones who first try to remedy the situation. If we can't, then we bump it up to Jot. We have been chosen specifically by Jot and he and only he can make a demigod.

Scribes are the world specific admin and are chosen annually by the demigods and are chosen from patrons. They have to be paying members of the site. They're the ones charged with the the care and maintenance of their respective worlds and most importantly, with welcoming newcomers and helping them to settle down.

Patrons are of course subscribers. Citizens are the non-subscribers who have been around enough to have move up from novice.

    Does this help explain things?

PS...I take bribes. I like chocolate, shiny things, oil and gas for my chainsaw. hehehehehehe
