Scientific American has the report Horsemen of the Steppes: Ancient Corrals Found in Kazakhstan on the find of ancient corrals in the Botai village of Krasnyi Jar. Archaological researchers have identified post moulds that formed circles. These circles could have been corrals. The Botai people lived at least 5,600 years ago in what is now modern Kazakhstan, and they used both wild and domestic horses in their culture.
