    These months during which the winter darkness lies over the land can seem long and dreary, but there is still beauty to be seen in the twilight shining on fresh snow and the Aurora Borealis dancing across the skies.

    The thick turf walls of my hús keep out the cold winds and I have mead and beer to drink, and a couple of geese roasting on the spit in case any neighbours stop by for a game of hnefatafl or kvatrutafl
