LOL - I've had two different new scribblies ask me that in 24 hours, and I suppose after all the build-up to Scribedom, it makes sense. It's not like you can go out and remake your world, but where do you start?
I realized, when I said that meeting and greeting new citizens and making sure they've got what they need, is really a scattershot notion. Some worlds - all worlds? I frankly don't know - have membership welcoming committees, and that's a great way to take a volunteer and see if they can take the first step to future scribedom - can they welcome newbies, be dependable in doing that?
THEN I thought - what DOES a new scribe do, to get settled in? and I realized ya'll have far more good advice for "starting projects" than I have, so I was hoping you might share ideas.
And BTW, how DO the welcoming committees work? Does everyone have them? Every time I see a kind new welcome in a new city, it seems to me they run on wheels, but . . . I'm curious!
