Way way back there's a secret oikos small and black.
If you want to get here, you must crawl
beyond the *fountain steps and all
When I've finished tasking here I go
None of all the other patrons know!
Here I keep my treasures in a box
Shells and colored glass and queer-shaped rocks.
In a secret hiding place I've made
built with care, ment not to trade.
Marked with yellow pebbles in a row---
None of all the other patrons know!
It's a place that makes a splendid lair
Room for chests, weapons and one chair.
In the farthest corner, by the stones,
A shelf exists with skulls and bones
And a lamp that casts a lurid glow
None of all the other patrons know!
Sometime by and by, when I have grown
I shall come and live here all alone
I shall hide and lurk till it's dark
Then lure to the *fountain any intruding lark.
I shall fill my oikos with captive foe
and none of the other patrons will know!
