Gwyr y Gogledd - the Men of the North, we are called. I know we may look a bit rough
around the edges, for we have not been so smoothed by the Roman adze as those in the South.
Though fierce in battle, we are also gentle in peace.
I am Eildyr, son of the Chief Bard Neirin. I
bid you welcome to the caer of Lot Luwddoc, King of the Gododdin. He is the stalwart shield against the scourge of the invading Angles. Several of his
strong sons serve the High King Arthur as rhyfelwr. His beautiful wife and daughters
are the sparkling jewels of his court.
We have of late seen tragedy and war here, and are struggling to rebuild our country.
Arthur has dealt generously with us, and we have no cause to complain. Although many here
have sorrowful hearts, for he has compelled us to send away our treasure to Camelot...
