The Colchester Bothie.
Most Celts live in round house, with the doorway facing the rising sun, some round house were wattle-and-daub, some were made of stone, I have no windows, but the roof is made of thick thatch of reeds, straw and heather.

Inside my round house, there is just one room, it which all my family ate and slept. The floor was beaten earth, and a fire burned in a stone hearth in the centre of the round-house, with four iron-dogs for roasting. As well as warming the house, the fire gave light and heat for cooking, there was no chimney, so the smoke rose through the thatch. Around the wall there was a low bench covered with animal skins. This served as a seat in the day and a sleeping pallet in the night. There is also a low table for eating from. Many hooks were on the wall, for storing food, clothing, tools and weapons. Most of our family food was cooked slowly over the fire in a large decorated cauldron, hung from a tripod with supporting chains.
Bread was baked on a flat stone in the hearth, where we have made a beehive-shaped oven out of local clay.
There are knives for cutting, but we have no forks, instead we eat with our fingers. We have spoons, but bread is used to mop up the gravy and juice from our plates.
