Clídna was a potent banshee that ruled as Queen over the sheoques of South Munster. She lives in Tír Tairngaire. In this harbour the sea, at certain times, utters a very peculiar, deep, hollow, and melancholy roar, among the caverns of the cliffs, which was formerly believed to foretell the death of a king of the south of Ireland. This surge has been front time immemorial called Tonn- Clídna, ' Clídna 's wave.' That’s where she had drowned and it’s a story for another time. But it is said she resides within her invisible palace at Carrigclídna.

She’s of the Tuatha de Danann, a Goddess of the sea, the afterlife and beauty. She was known as the ruler of the waves. It was said that every ninth wave embodied her and would be much higher and stronger than the other waves.

Clídna has fair hair crowned with the Ferroniere of Allurement and is escorted by three birds, one blue with a crimson head, one crimson with a green head, and one speckled with a gold head. They eat magic apples and heal the sick with their sweet songs. The apple tree has silver white blossoms and golden apples.

Birds, especially sea birds, sand dollars, abalone shells, and sand are all sacred to Clídna. Sometimes she shape-shifts into a wren or a sea-wave. Ask for her blessing when doing magic involving the sea (or water), love, beauty, or the afterlife.

She has two sisters Aífe (Radiant) and Etain (Emerald). They say Clídna is the banshee of the O’Keeffe clan and the O'Donovans.
