She lives in a castle beneath an ensorcelled lake deep in the mystical Domnonée forest of Brocelïande. She is famous for seducing King Arthur's sorcerer Merlin into sharing his arcane secrets and entrapping him in a magical tower, a cave or a tree (depending on the Arthurian tale). In Welsh folklore, Nimue is one of the Gwragedd Annwn - lake sidhe. Mistress of knowledge and moon wisdom, she archetypically represents primal initiation into the Otherworld, a mysterious liminal Celtic realm of myth and magic.
