FUTURE DEVELOPMENT BY SEMENTAWY HOREMHEB The city of Miklgardr is currently under development and members are kindly requested that they refrain from adding discussion boards/threads, posting and acquiring properties until further notice. Your consideration is appreciated. Thankyou. In Old Norse 'Miklagaršr' (from mikill 'big' and garšr 'city'), later 'Miklagard' or 'Miklagardr.' The Eastern and Southern Slavic peoples referred to the city as Tsarigrad or Carigrad, 'City of the Caesar (Emperor)', from the Slavonic words 'tsar' ('Caesar') and grad ('city'). Cyrillic:Цариград. from the Greek Βασιλέως Πόλις (Basileos Polis), 'the city of the emperor [king].' "Tsargrad (Old Church Slavonic: Цѣсарьградъ, Church Slavonic: Царьгра̀дъ, Russian: Царьгра́д, Slovenian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Bosnian and Serbian: Цариград (Tsarigrad or Carigrad in the Latin alphabet), Romanian: Ţarigrad, Ukrainian: Царгород, also rendered as Czargrad and Tzargrad; see Tsar) is a historic Slavic name for the city of Constantinople, the capital of the Roman Empire and eventually its eastern half, the Byzantine Empire, which is modern-day Istanbul in Turkey. Tsargrad was not used as a name of the city, but as a nickname manifesting the regal dignity of the city. At the same time the historic Slavonic names of the city were Константинь градъ (in Old Church Slavonic as well as Church Slavonic) and Константиноградъ (only in Church Slavonic). Both are direct translation of the Greek name of the city (Κωνσταντινούπολη) and mean the city of Constantine."
