The Tomb Of Philip II In the royal tombs of Vergina were buried all the royal family of Macedon from its begining, to the father of Alexander The Great, Philip II. Over the millenia most were plundered of all their contents and stood as no more than empty spaces which could not be identified. At the end of the last century three intact tombs with their remains were found including the tomb and skeleton of Philip II. It was said in ancient times that the royal house of Macedon should fall if ever a king of the line were buried elsewhere. The prophecy was fulfilled when the body of Alexander The Great was interred in Alexandria in Egypt. The Argaead dynasty would soon be no more.
