Goldfest V 2007 Part 1 Days 1-4 Yesssssssssssss!!!!!!!!! Posted at 21:00 EST
Goldfest V 07 Part 1

This is my first Goldfest. Although I have been living in Ancient Worlds/Germania for well over two years and visited from time to time when it was Ancient Sites, after the game SPQR was first launched, (I believe I may still even have the old CD).Circumstances in the Modern World have kept me from exploring the AW to the full extent of my desire.

We are now into the fourth evening, in fact, I am writing this on the October 16th evening of the celebrations. I have thoroughly enjoyed these days and plan to spend the next day in The Orient. I just wanted to write a few thoughts and observations while I had the chance. I thank all those who work so hard to make these festivals so interesting and fun for the rest of us. I hope one day to be proficient enough to help out in the future. For now I am content enjoying what the talents and labors of others have wrought and my interactions with others who share my love and interest in ancient history and the everyday lives of those who lived long before us.

The following are my own opinions and experiences:

Day 1
Mesopotamia: Mesopotamian Astrology ~ An Exhibition, an exquisite well researched, well done tour into how the Mesopotamians saw the heavens above them and the world around them. The music was a lovely addition and made me feel as though I were really there. Relaxing and informative.

Choose Your Own Adventure This was a really fun well done alternative-history adventure with factual references to Mesopotamian Mythology. This was again relaxing and informative and one comes away with a better understanding of Mesopotamian life.

The Eridu Inn Want to learn belly dancing? Drink up and join in! This is the place to be M-E-S-O-P-O-T-A-M-I-A-N

Ziggurat Decorating Contest and Write Your Own Scroll Fun! Like getting a new coloring book and crayons, or a paint set with brushes and canvas. It also helps those of us trying to learn graphics. What a fun and interesting way of doing so! I did both but didn't post because.... well....... I am a bit shy you know.

The Kash Bowl A place for weary warriors, artisans and others to refresh themselves. Being from Germania, a warrior and a Norse woman, well then you have to know this is the Mesopotamia equivalent to The Red Boar in Germania and like a home away from home for me.

Day 2
Germania: Let the Vandalization Begin Quiz This was a mind bending quiz and I really learned much from taking this quiz. I aced it, of course,....what do you expect? I am a Germaniac after all, and yes I cheated. As a servant of Odin, I called on his help and was provided with all info I could find on the Vandals before I took the quiz. Odin will do anything for the ladies!

455: Rome is Sacked! Yes, the barbarians are at the gates boys and girls! This was a writing contest. You were to chose from a group of characters and write a small journal from the character's perspective during the two weeks of Vandal occupation. I am a lousy writer, after all, I stared at that blank piece of parchment in Mesopotamia's "Write Your Own Scroll" for hours on end with a bad case of writers (and drawers) block until I realized the hellhounds had eaten my quill and then the parchment too. All the entries were excellent....but I did have a favorite, although all were fun to read I really enjoyed Ecfrith Wuffing's "The Wrong Kind of Silence." Kudos to ye brave warrior men and women who took on this challenge.

Follow the Vandals as they plunder er...MIGRATE through Europe. Why the word Vandal is synonymous with destruction of the property? Well one can never know until you take the tour and judge for yourself......are these really the bad boys of Europe or did they get a bum rap? This was an interesting and informative tour much enjoyed. My own opinion is they got the bum rap. I've never met a Vandal here in Germania that I didn't love! Besides I think many of us Germanics agree Rome deserved a certain amount of sacking..... on principle alone. Right?

Day 3
Hellas: The Golden Fables For some reason I keep thinking this says golden apples....whenever I am in Hellas for some reason I get those golden apple dreams. Oh well. This was a writing contest, again the places where my lights go out completely upstairs, but thankfully there are many talented writers and storytellers in AW. The fables were GREAT and i read all! I did have a favorite always a hard choice. I would so hate to be a judge in any of the AW writing contests. My fav though was Eunice Orestes "All that glitters is not gold.

Experience Sparta Another exciting and informative tour. Sparta! what else can one say about quite possibly one of the coolest places in the Ancient World?

The Five Quests of Croesus I love this. These type of quests are so fun and take one to places you normally might not find here in AW on your own. Did I find the gold? Are you kidding? I can't even find my car keys.

Mindaro's Mythology Maze I have a great weakness for mazes. Once started I can't stop. It is an addiction I believe. I think there is a maze gene built into the human DNA and I am sure it came from Hellas. This was fun, interesting and exhausting. More of these and AW will need a Mazaholics Anonymous Group. Loved it!!!!!!

The Macedonian Bar And Grill One can't help but sway to the lovely music and take a look in the cupboard. This is an extremely popular pub (when one sees the Huns being as sweet as the Baklava then you know you've hit the center of the world). Yes, this can also be considered Macedonian equivalent to Cheers. Everyone knows your name.

Olympic Gold GULP! Another extremely, enjoyable and fascinating maze....only...... if you take the wrong turn here you don't just die, you end up on the Minotaur's menu. You've no choice but to learn your Hellas Mythology! I lust love mazes

Day 4
Americas: One of my most favorite areas of AW behind Germania of course.
Americas Hoods TourThere are some awesome homes here and well worth the tour.

Where in the America's Quiz This was great fun and I learned much about each site just because it piqued my interest so much. Some people have no idea that we have sites here in America that rival the greatest in Europe, Asia and Africa. Thanks for the great quiz!

The Tsalagi Harvest Feast ~ Come celebrate the harvest with the Tsalagi Did someone say food? If the answer is yes.....then I am there. Let me just say with my "sweet...I love bread too...tooth" the fry bread is my favorite, however the rest of the fare had me rolling through the rest of the festival like a big beach ball.

New Premiere at the MP Movie House ~ "New" premiere featuring Treasure of Sierra Madre. Aren't we suppose to get some exercise after all that food? Hehehe who cares, the movie was absolutely great as was the popcorn. Yep! I had plenty of room left. I had to take up at least four extra seats though, but by the time the movie was finished I was not only pleased with the movie but had forgotten to eat all the popcorn and found I had shrunk at least two seats.

Mystery of the Crystal Skulls, beta-v.2 ~ Interactive game of digging bones and skulls. Now it was time to work off the fry bread. Work it off I did until I had to stop for more refreshment (as if I needed more after all that)unfortunately, it was poison.......oh well when one partakes of so much fare one needs to be a bit careful when galloping off into the unknown. I bet that Crystal Skull was awesome....perhaps we shall come across it in one of our Norse raids in the future and I will finally manage to get my looting and pillaging hands upon it!

Battle of the Empires: Chimu vs. Inca ~ After being conquered by the Inca, the Chimu have come together to fight for their freedom. Are you strong enough to preserve the great Inca Empire? Any Norse man or woman is more than anxious to jump into battle, even when it belongs to someone else and especially when you are trying to lend a hand to fellow warriors who have lots of gold in their coffers. This was really fun, although I got my arse kicked from here to Vahalla and back most of the time. At the end I chose me a weary warrior for my last gig. Sneaky, yes I know at least didn't end up having to fall on my sword at of the shame of all my losses. Well besides we weren't allowed to use our swords. Imagine a Norse without his/her sword. No wonder I have Chimu tattoos all over my arse. Twas quite a lot of fun and even more so to follow the action. I do understand why the those Eriksson the Red boys only stayed in our American settlements for 100 years those crazed skrælingjar fight hard and bad and.......................... they don't even use swords!!!!!!!

All in all I had a blast and wish I could name all those responsible for such a wonderfully, exciting, enjoyable and memorable festival! Thanks all so very much you are all appreciated by this Germaniac/Ancient Worldiac inmate by the tons!!!! BUT WAIT! GUYS! THERE'S MORE TO COME AND I WILL BE THERE WITH A JOURNAL OF THE NEXT FOUR DAYS
