New items Posted at 14:00 EST

Today I have begun a series of new projects. I have 3 New Shields to construct, a Pair of Leather Gauntlets, some Carved Rock sculptures, Making a Coin die, a Carved Boar Standard, 2 Leather Belt pouches (Early Gallic design), Finishing a Spear, and Completing a new scabbard for one of my Gallic Swords. Each is in various stages of completion. Some rely upon bugetary constraints and some others are dependent upon time or Weather. There are a bit of other small scale projects Usually in support of one or another previous project. I am not certain how much will actually get done before Estrella. But I hope to have at least half completed by then.

Viridovix Circle of Nobles Award

Today I spent some time pondering what I could do to recognize those with whom I have had the pleasure of meeting here at Ancient Worlds. I have seen some various Icons/Images put out by others, and posted to their friends or other Fellow Members pages. This in turn inspired me to do something of similar ilk. So I spent some time thinking of what it should look like and how it should be applied. I felt that those whom I have come across showed themselves to be of Noble Character and very friendly and helpful, especially to some of us new members. Being a Celt in heart and mind, I had to use something relative in that fashion. So It came to me. Why not a Torc. The Various Celtic groups Nobility wore them as a mark of their Status. So Here is my Humble attempt to shower out a Torc to everyone who inspires someone out there, who takes that moment in time to help someone else, or to those who show a deep commitment to spreading knowledge and giving the rest of us a place to call home. There will be others to be sure to recieve my small favor. By far there are more accomplished here in Ancient Worlds than I. So thank you all.

ALTHING Posted at 14:00 EST
Althing

This Samhain weekdend I spent in the company of my friends from the Baronies of Starkhafn, Drieburgen, and Naevehjem. The Commraderie and atmosphere was above par.
I competed in the Tourney and Placed at 5th out of a dozen+ fighters.
I even won the Arts and Sciences prize for my Chainmaile shirt based upon a statue of a Gaullish nobleman of Vacheres, Basses Alpes.
I also took the prize for the Persona Award. There was great warmth to be had in the Bardic circles, and not just from the fire pits.
I brought a couple of spears for the spear throwing competition. It turned out to be a huge success. Even though they were 9ft long and about 3lbs. The longest successful cast was just shy of 60ft. I lost out at 55ft. Still for my first day spear throwing it was not too bad. I will need to practice more.
I made some new friends and even have been commmissioned to make 2 new Chainmaile shirts. Pics will follow later. Of course I am taking my payment in Barter. Baron Conrad Breakring is offering up 5 Gallons of Home brewed Heather Mead, and Edward the Sinister is going to provide me with some Campsite gear (portable Holes) Basically Large Metal stakes with rings forge welded on to hold up Banners and spears and such.
My Daughter enjoyed the opportunity to play outside all day. She looks so adorable in her little Peplos dress. I am working on getting more "authentic" Garb for all of us. At any rate, fun was had by all and it was a great start to a new year.
