Em hotep!

I guess I should introduce myself.

My name is Asenath Amenhotep. I am a professional musician at Court. I play all different sorts of flutes and wind type instruments, plus some of the percussion instruments. Drums, cymbals, etc...

I play music and that is all. There are others who perform and see to the guests needs.

My father, Potiphera is a priest at Heliopolis(On). I do not need to work but playing the flute here at Court, has gained me respect and the freedom to do what I wish.

I learnt the woodwind instruments at my fathers temple. The percussion, self taught. I am not needed that much for those types of instruments but when one of the other musicians gets sick, I will fill in.

I am no-ones servant, nor do I have many servants. I only have one servant but I wouldn't even call her that. She has become a very dear friend. I would be lost without her.

Mandisa is more of a personal assistant than a servant. She has been with the family since she was born. Her mother served my mother and now Mandisa is with me. When I marry, she will probably come with me to the new house. She is free to come and go as she pleases.

I don't have anyone in my life right now but some day I will. I do hope to marry one day. I also know that when I do marry, my "career" will be over. Not that I mind that much. Running a household will definitely be a full-time job in itself.

Depending on whom I marry, most certainly children will probably come into the equation. A man should have many sons to carry on his name but daughters can also earn a good marriage and wealth.

Even though I was a girl, I learnt all sorts of things. How to use a bow, tie knots, mathematics, art, cosmology and of course music.

I studied hard with my music. Have even written a song or two. I haven't played them in public though. They were for my own enjoyment.

Well, I guess that is about it. If I think of anything worth mentioning, I will come back and note it down.
