Ah, a New Year and Silliness Reigns Supreme

Well, it started out as a joke at Arachne and then I actually started playing with PSP and now I've gone and created an Ancient Texan's badge for all the vast multitude of Texans here at AW. That's it on the left there, but it looks better on a dark background. Now if I only knew where they live (in AW, that is ... the Ancient Texans, that is. *lol*) I could hand these little guys out. Oh, well, I gave Porciae and Cornellia each a badge, so maybe they'll pass 'em along.
Of course, there are few people who aren't Texan that deserve to be deputized. *shrug* So, now it looks like I may have to create an "Honorary Ancient Texan" badge for them. Hm-m-m..... |

But generally not....

Sheesh! I'm starting to wonder if anybody actually reads what the other guy posts. Not to be sarcastic or anything, but sometimes it really looks like people latch onto a word or phrase, without fully reading the post or thinking about the essence of what the original person is trying to say.
Then, it becomes like a game of "Gossip" from when we were kids. That person jumps on one point heavily, but the next person isn't reading and thinking about their post either...and so on.
Sorry, but I'd started to feel some real frustration over the Curia discussion. I had this wild idea that most people login and go straight to their homepage. Wouldn't it be cool if we took them at least once a day to the admin pages? To be sure they saw them and knew they were there ... maybe even *gasp* read them! Unfortunately, the neighborhood project was foremost in my mind and I suggested that page. I'm being accused now of attempting to bypass the city pages...worse of trying to do away with them!
Okay enough of this whining. Next topic.... |

Especially when you read things like this from the Washington Times archives:
The 20-year-old Palestinian woman lifted the pack onto her back last month and walked down the street to take her position, growing more uneasy with each step. She was wearing a Western-style midriff top and tight pants for the first time in her life, the better to blend into the crowd in the Israeli city of Rishon le-Zion.
In her pack was a bomb. She was to set it off after a 16-year-old Palestinian, who had been brought in the car from Bethlehem with her by two handlers, had blown himself up across the street. When the crowd of curiosity-seekers had built up, she would move into their midst and blow herself up.
She waited 10 minutes for the other bomber to strike, looking about her at the faces in the passing crowd — teen-agers, mothers with children, elderly people. She thought about an Israeli girl her age she had known. "I suddenly understood what I was about to do, and I said to myself: How can I do such a thing?"
Maybe there's something in this idea of 'If Women Ran the World'. |

for what's doing in the film industry and I come across a mention of a new Hannibal movie due out in 2005. Seems it's only just now coming out of pre-production. Great! Love the topic! Tomilcar will be thrilled! And then I see it ... casting. Vin Diesel as Hannibal! Vin Diesel? Are they kidding? Hannibal XXX? The Elephants and the Furious? What is this?
I gotta go lie down. |

The Scribe's Palette: positively NO interest in a modern period piece, so I junked it. Skads of activity on The Really, Really, Really Bad Story board, though. I think people are having fun with that one. One-line limit, no consecutive posts allowed.
Now that I have the graphic done, I think I need to start working on the menu for Kaffè Khufu. It keeps getting longer. Soon, I won't know what drinks I'm offering there anymore! Then again, since we take special requests, I don't know that it matters.
Trying to help Tomilcar drum up business for the Hannibal board, but so far there's still only about five of us. Maybe I'm not posting it in the right place. Or maybe everyone is too busy with the neighborhood project to think about it right now. Ah, well, Jonus, Apil and I are determined. Onward! Over the Alps!
I really MUST get back to work on another lesson for the Royal Kap. And I told Hap I would become co-leader on the AE board. Between that, bar-tending, Royal Scribe duties, teaching classes, working at the Curia, and trying to gather support for Carthage ... is that all ... I think I'm forgetting something ... learning more Flash, keeping up with my reading list, going to work during the days, and RESEARCH!!!! I'm going under for the second time here.
Okay, now that I see it all listed out like that (and I still think I'm missing something fairly important) I need to go lie down a while.... |

So the new roleplay workshop and coffeebar is up and running. Amazing how much activity is going on there already. Mostly people meeting and greeting, but we also have a procrastination talk going on at the Writer's Block and I started one thread under the Tome of Write-Ink-Amon. It's modern period as a change of pace, though, and that might not be very popular. So, we'll see if anyone else want to play with it. If not, we'll have to see about starting a period piece. I wonder if there'll be any interest in the 16th Century or Life on Mars or if we'll end up sticking with ancient societies. An ancient society on Mars....oh, wait a minute. They made a movie like that once. Didn't they? "Stargate" I think it was called. |

Ah, Samhain in Celtia!

What better place to celebrate the end of the Phoenix's world voyage! I do love Celtia. In fact, I almost decided to be born there. But Egypt is my first interest, so here I am. Maybe in another life....
Still, it's very nice of the Celts to invite us all to witness this celebration...even to join in! I'm actually looking forward to seeing my first ka! |

Today, I'm definitely wearing a robe over the kilt

If I'm going to trudge up that mountain again and visit Lake Titikaka, I'm finding something warmer to wear. Fishing with Apiladey on the river yesterday, with the splashing and people falling in, and the fish jumping into my lap, I almost froze my royal Ttw off. Today, I'm putting on heavier linen....
