Spare a thought for those in need

I've just been watching the news and the tsunami disaster in South East Asia is...beyond words. In the face of such devastation and trauma, the man-made disasters of Iraq and elsewhere pale into insignificance. How can a morally corrupt oil-fueled war based on hypocracy and base lies compare to such a thing? In India, they are cutting off hands for storage and later identification whilst bodies are piled for fast burial. The Maldives alone are entirely devastated and what of India, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and another six nations...? Half the population of Aceh province in Indonesia is estimated dead...and so it goes. The stories that are emerging, small vignettes of human suffering, are desperately sad. A mother was forced into a situation where she had to choose between her children - which would survive and which would die - holding onto the baby she had to let her 5 year old go and watch him pulled away by the rush of current. That the boy was lucky enough to cling to a log submerged in water for two days and later to be rescued was a small miracle. But these are the lucky ones. One woman lost 17 members of her family. Over 5000 Australians are missing...at the moment, the overall death toll is estimated to be well over 80000 and this is early days. Cholera is becoming an issue and dysentary is on the rise.
It's hard to remain detached from such a thing - even as an observer safely distanced, it's very distressing - the news is full of it - every station - it is eclipsing everything...and rightly so. |

Ancient musings...

...from an ancient ancient ;) This journal - in teenage parlance - sux. It needs an overhaul but what to do with the wretched thing?!
At least it now has a fitting name. |

Whether it would be better to capitulate gracefully or reconsider my proposal to approach AllMale's servant. I felt sure that he would be only too pleased to accept a small 'gift' to 'fortify' the lawyer's morning irep tomorrow. That I was reduced to even considering such a thing spoke reams about my chances to secure a favourable outcome.
It seems that though right was on my side might and influence was on Toman's.
Perhaps it was time to discuss my misgivings with the Judge? I felt sure that in her and the stalwart Lotus I would find kindred spirits...and a helping hand or two ;) |

Or how Toman got his just desserts ;) Judge Aura Caelius presiding, the trial at the Qnbt commences on the 25th July, 1280 BCE ~ a trial in which the nefarious doings of Niwt's Royal Architect, Toman Thutmose, will finally exposed to the light of day.
Will Obfuscate Thutmose be successful in defending the accused? Will Lotus, Aura, Hap and others finally get their man? Will Akhenhotep get the pastry concession? Stay tuned for the answers to these pivotal questions *g* |
