The courtyard I dream of is a sheltered bower shaded by apricot trees. Here I sat on a dragon carpet in my father's house, embroidering the myth of Ara and Shamiram on the border of a pillow, and listening to the mournful calling of a distant dziranapogh.
Some of my current research is being done online. Below are links I have found to be of particular interest.
The History of Armenia by Vahan Kurkjian
This link takes you to an entire book (in the public domain) that has been placed online complete with additional notations from Classical sources by Bill Thayer. Dr. Thayer's contributions made the whole text more meaningful for me, and pointed the way to corroborating (or dissenting!) authors from Antiquity. I cannot praise or thank this gentleman enough.
Urartu/Armenia by Jona Lendering
I found this article to be extremely clear and informative. Much documentation from Classical sources is also incorporated, as well as a description of tribal Armenia from Xenophon. The history of ancient Armenia is frequently a tangle of conflict and conjecture. Articles like this one go a long way towards smoothing out the knots!
Armenian Studies at California State University, Fresno For a comprehensive and beautifully produced overview of Armenian culture, I can highly recommend this site. Fresno, California was one of the main destinations of the Armenian diaspora, as the climate and soil are much like that in the ancient Armenian homeland. Armenian farmers in particular found it easy to adapt here. I might also add, this is the city where I was born. *wink*

Robert Bedrosian's Armenian History Workshop Primary sources translated by Dr. Bedrosian, as well as the texts of some of his own published articles. Charts of Armenian dynasties are especially helpful. This site is lavish in its information, and is one of the best I have found to date.
HyeEtch
For a magnificently produced general overview of the Armenians, this is the site I recommend. Not devoted only to history, a treasure-house of cultural information is also provided. You can even find an Armenian language course here.

Mashtots and the Armenian Alphabet, Jan 19, 2007 - 21:05
The invention of the Armenian alphabet and the translation of Christian texts into the Armenian language helped to assert Armenian cultural and religious identity at a time when both were under fierce assault.
