The Scorpion Pit of Sementawy Horemheb -- [Entrance ] [Well behaved women rarely make history ] [Pyramidiots BEWARE ] [The Trap Door ] [The Garden On The Hill of Grit Stone (open!) ]

Sementawy's Library is for her academic pursuits. She rarely posts AEgyptian historical snippets, nor does she translate without a pay cheque. Many are tempted to ask and find that a refusal often offends. Some may find this bizzare, given that the sharing of information is the reason for Ancient World's existance... however, as Egyptology was Sementawy's day job in RL, it stands to reason that she has neither the time (nor tolerance) to extend this 24/7. Naturally this poses the question... 'what is she doing here?'

Well, having been a long standing Patron of Ancient Sites and former Head of The illustrious House of Horemheb, Sementawy likes to stay in touch with friends who became close in AS. She has commented that she likes some of her 'net' friends better than her 'real life' ones... as she can always switch them off.

Her particular historical interest in Egypt is.... HOREMHEB and only HOREMHEB.

This does not extend to AEgyptian Role Play, Early Dynastic Period, Old Kingdom (especially pyramids), the 1st Intermediate Period, Middle Kingdom, 2nd & 3rd Intermediate Periods nor the Greco-Roman Period. Sementawy sometimes poses and answers the Egyptian Trivia questions, but not often because, as Egyptology is how she makes a living... some view it as cheating. Her ultimate trivia question, which seemingly cannot be answered even by the greatest of Egyptologists, is ... 'Where is the Hill of Grit Stone located?'

In regards to the Late Kingdom... She believes that Akhenaten was a diseased sociopath who should have been charged with treason, criminal culpability and murder in the name of his scapegrace god, found guilty and promptly executed (impaling for preference); Nefertiti was an obsequious yet self obsessed attention seeker and Tutankhamun was really, truly, honestly...a wretched little nobody who should have been drowned at birth.

So high and no higher
So great and no greater
The loftier the dream,
The deeper the crater.

Pyramidiots beware.

There is nothing mystical about the power of pyramids. Pyramids are dams in the stream of time. Correctly shaped and oriented, with the proper paracosmic measurements correctly plumbed in, the temporal potential of the great mass of stone can be diverted to accelerate or reverse time over a very small area, in the same way that a hydraulic ram can be induced to pump water against the flow. The original builders, who were of course ancients and therefore wise, knew this very well and the whole point of a correctly built pyramid was to achieve absolute null time in the central chamber so that a dying king, tucked up there, would live forever... or at least, never actually die. The time that would have passed in the chamber was stored in the bulk of the pyrmaid and allowed to flare off once every twentyfour hours. After a few aeons people forgot this and thought you could achieve the same effect by (a) ritual, (b) pickling people and (c) storing their soft inner bits in jars. This seldom works. And so the art of pyramid tuning was lost, and all the knowledge became a handful of misunderstood rules and hazy recollections. The ancients were far too wise to build very big pyramids. They could cause very strange things, things that would make meer fluctuations in time look tiny by comparison. By the way, contrary to popular opinion pyramids don't sharpen razor blades. They just take them back in time to when they weren't blunt. This is probably because of 'quantum.'

Terry Pratchett, 'Pyramids,' 1989.
