Emperor Manuel I Comnenus

Manuel I Comnenus was born on November 28, 1118 A.D. He was an exceptionally eager and enthusiastic Byzantine emperor. His was a very inspirational leader, and he loved the western crusader culture, which was odd for a Byzantine emperor. One of his succeses was the recapturing of Cyprus. The crusader, Raynald of Chatillon, invaded the province of Cyprus, ransacked the Cities, and killed many citizens. Manuel assembled a huge imperial army and swiftly marched to Cyprus. Manuel also made alliances with Western Europe and the pope. The reason why the success of his reign is disputed, is because his invasion of Egypt was a failure. Historians believe he should have focused his power on the Turks. I believe his reign was successful, and he was the last great Byzantine emperor.
