The pleasantest of all diversions is to sit alone under the lamp, a book spread out before you, and to make friends with people of a distant past you have never known.

The Yellow Room of Profound Wisdom is for my historical and academic pursuits. Here you will find the books I have written as well as the scrolls I have acquired for my collection from other citizens. Please feel free to browse! Here you will also find a collection of posts that I have made to historical and academic boards.
I invite you to gaze upon the walls of the Yellow Room and behold my collection of priceless silk scrolls, each of which bears a portrait of one of my illustrious ancestors. They include:
ASHIKAGA TAKAUJI (1305-1358)
The first Ashikaga to bear the title of shogun. He sided with the Emperor against the Kamakura family and established the Ashikaga (Muromachi) Shogunate in 1336.
ASHIKAGA YOSHIMITSU (1358-1408)
The third Ashikaga shogun. In 1392, he brought the Nanbokucho Wars to an end by uniting the Northern and Southern Courts under the authority of the Muromachi government. His retirement villa in Kyoto, the so-called Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji), became a temple after his death.
ASHIKAGA YOSHIAKI (1537-1597)
The fifteenth and last Ashikaga shogun. He was deposed by Oda Nobunaga in 1573 and lived out the remaining years of his life as a monk.
