My Library is for my historical and academic pursuits. Here you will find the books I have written as well as the books I have acquired for my collection from other citizens. Please feel free to browse! Here you will also find a collection of post that I have made to historical and academic boards. My particular historical interests in the Ancient Celtic World are....
WOAD ODE (Anthem of the Pictish Nations)
What's the use of wearing braces?
Fancy pants and boots with laces?
Hats and spats you buy in places
Down the Royal Road?
What's the use of shirts of cotton ?
Studs that always get forgotten ?
These affairs are simply rotten,
Better far is woad.
Woad's the stuff to show men.
Woad to scare your foemen.
Spread it on your fat abdomen
Paint yourself a brilliant blue.
Ancient Briton ne'er did hit on
Anything like woad to fit on
Neck or knees or where you sit on.
Tailors you are through!!
Romans came across the channel
All dressed up in tin and flannel
Half a pint of woad per man'll
Dress us more than these.
Saxons you can waste your stitches
Building beds for bugs in britches,
We have woad to clothe us which is
Not a nest for fleas!
Romans you can keep your armours.
Saxons wear your silk pajamas.
Hairy coats were made for goats,
And other hairy animals like these.
Tramp up Snowdon with your woad on,
Never mind if you get blowed on.
Never want a button sewed on.
The perfect suit for ancient B's!!
NOTE: I found this bit while wandering the net. I am hoping my fellow Celts might enjoy it as much as I did! I couldn't find an "author", so I am attributing it to that prolific writer, A. Nony Mous…
