Welcome to My Familia

Also, here you may find artifacts and other items I have been collecting and making through my game playing activities. Finally, you can see an index to all my posts to role-playing boards.

My Duties

As a Roman I consider life as the fullfillment of many duties. My familia is my kingdom. I am responsible for my wife, my children and my slaves. It is my duty towards Rome and my forefathers to teach them honesty, noble-mindedness and bravery.

I try to be just and stern. I discuss serious problems with my family before I make up my mind.

My wife takes care of the house and the children. They wear homemade clothes.

The Education

My most important duty is the education of my sons. I am their only teacher. I have taught them sports as swimming, running, boxing and wrestling. They practice with small, wooden swords, because it is the duty of every Roman citizen to serve in the legions.

I have told them about the forefathers, whose wax masks hang on the walls, because they are still important and respected family members. The masks are taken down on public days and are carried to the festivals. We donot offend our forefathers.

I have showed them the fields and the city of Rome. Their education is practical and useful. I have told my sons: "You shall obey orders, act as citizens and die to protect Rome, the family and your honour." I think philosopy and poetry are only suitable for the Greeks. I tell my sons only stories about gods and heroes. I have told them about the foundation of the Roman empire.
