Old Sarum was a small fortification and settlement on the southern edge of the Salisbury Plains. Situated atop a low hillock, the fortress commanded a good view for many miles in all directions.
The first signs of habitation date to around 5,000 years ago, shortly before the first stages of Stonehenge were started. Coincidence? Most likely, these early inhabitants were the builders of that monument. However, they also had daily lives to lead. What might these people have been like?
