Analysing hieroglyphs to extract their meaning must be a formidible task even to those trained to do it! However, that said, individual glyphs shouldn't present a problem if one has a reliable dictionary in hand...should it? Actually glyphs were never used in isolation only ever in conjunction with others and of course interpretation had everything to do with context. In that light, looking at hieroglyphs in situ becomes a bit like a detective quest - move over, Sherlock!
