From their obscure origins to the end of the Vandal kingdom in Africa. The Vandals had their origins in Scandinavia or the north of Germany and ended up establishing a powerful new state in north Africa. Under Gaiseric they sacked Rome and dominated the western Mediterranean with their naval power, only to vanish from history after their defeat by Belisarius.
