From Our Legendary Editor - At Large!
For those of you who don't know me, I've been hanging around these parts in one guise or another for almost ten years. I have always had a keen interest in and love for history, especially ancient times. In my real world persona I've been lucky enough to travel and see many of the historic places featured here, and my wife and I lived for five years on the island nation of Bahrain (Tylos to the ancient Greeks), where much of the Tale of Gilgamesh takes place. I collect and study Roman coins and what these little images of history can tell us about the society, technology and politics of the classical world. So when I stumbled on the original SPQR site way back in 1996, I was intrigued. The game itself was a revelation with its 3-D Roman Forum. I could explore at will and imagine what it might have been like to live in that time and place in a whole new way.
But the best part was meeting some remarkable folks who shared my passion for the past. What started out as a bulletin board for game hints grew into something special, a virtual neighborhood of friends that became a lasting community. It's been a lot of fun coming here, and I can't wait to see what the next decade may bring.
So, on to our summer edition of the ACTA!

Anticus
