WomanIn the News...

Work continues on Egypt's Places where, under a broiling sun, bewigged Kemetans toil to make ready for the influx of per-buyers. Got a bit of spare time up your sleeve and hanker to leave your mark one or two of Egypt's Places? Earn yourself a prime spot in the Duat by joining the ranks of those who labour - the benefits are wild and gratitude will flow like the Nile! And you get this really nifty plaque to clutter your per ;)

By the way, Team Egypt secured 2nd Place in the recent site trivia competition! Ambassadors Lotus and Nebmaatre are to be congratulated on upholding Egyptian ma'at in the face of the barbarian hordes. Well done, combatants! Egypt thanks you both!

Scribal matters

BeeEgypt World welcomes her newest scribe, Nebmaatre Thutmose! Nebmaatre joins Lotus Horemheb and Hapshetsut Nebet in continuing to encourage growth in one of Ancient Worlds' most ancient places. Named in honour of Amenhotep III, one of Egypt's most prominent New Kingdom pharaohs, Neb, a self-professed Egyptophile, brings to the role a genuine love for the black land of Kemet.

Egypt World bids an affectionate farewell to Onions Hatshepsut in her role as scribe, now scribe emeritis, who has been a valued mainstay for the two years she has served. Onions' contribution alone to the development of Egypt's Places has been outstanding and her chosen land owes her an enormous debt of gratitude. Don't stray too far, Onions! Also a fond and temporary farewell to AzureEyes Ramesses who is expected to rejoin Egypt's scribes when her sabbatical comes to a close.

An update on groups

Hankering for potted palms, aspidistras and antimacassers? An opportunity to don cream linen suits, a topee or two, exchange tales of derringo-do with the odd crusty colonel and ladies in flapper attire...eh, what? Register at the Hotel Cairo where, under the genteel management of Nebmaatre Thutmose, intrepid explorers can take a well-earned break from desecrating ancient monuments and steep themselves in luxury and a well-earned bath. Add your exploits to the mix in Tales from the Pyramid Club and be sure to take tea at The Potted Palm Tearoom, a perfect spot to write those sepia-toned postcards Home. Welcome to The Pyramid Club!

The Scribe's Palette, one of Egypt's most popular groups, continues to prosper with its members currently focussing their interest in the well-named The Tomes of Write-Ink-Amon, a board that offers writers an opportunity take a playful and varied approach to creative writing. The ever popular Caption Mania is a must for masters of the ubiquitous one-liner. Brainchild of Sankhkare Thutmose (who, it is whispered, is now lurking in a place far, far from home ;), it offers light relief for AW denizens in dire need of a serious dose of humour. Those with a more serious bent enjoy the chance to share their unfinished works in Works in Progress.

In their own words...

The voice of the turtledove speaks out. It says:
day breaks, which way are you going?
Lay off, little bird,
I found my lover on his bed,
and my heart was sweet to excess
From the Songs of Excellent Enjoyment (New Kingdom), Papyrus Harris 500
