Roman Entries for the November issue of Acta Diurna
done by Tanaquil Sergius
ROMA AETERNA The city of Rome, first city of AncientSites, is now The Roman World! With the advent of neighborhoods, Rome undertakes to "fill in" 55 distinct provinces throughout the ancient world, and we've made a good start, as you'll see from our Featured Links and places! There's new excitement as well in several new groups founded to discuss Roman history: visit the luxury seaport resort, Baiae, visit the Roman military frontier town of Colonia Traina in Germania Inferior, or just explore Rome itself and its seven hills! Some of our new and active Roman groups have been busy, such as the new Inventions of Mankind, Orbis Technicus, Delenda Est Carthago, Caesar III, Republic of the Seven Hills, Subconscious Writings, Seditores Romani, Caesar's Codaand - just for fun! - Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. Check them out!
![]() The Subura in greater Rome Our new Roman Neighborhoods have been created and built by many industrious Roman Citybuilders (Many thanks to all of you!! gratias, semper gratias vobis agimus!), including (but not limited to!): Heraklia Aelius, Senex Caecilius, Maria Marius, Serica Antonius, Lucius Aelius, Tanaquil Sergius, Marty Cornelius, Cyhiraeth Volcae. We are getting ready for the Awards Ceremony for CityBuilders in November - if anyone has accidentally been left off the list, please contact Tanaquil Sergius and let me know where your CityBuilding can be found!
So far, the provinces of Italia, Britannia, Roman Germania, Africa Proconsularis, Gallia Belgica, Aegyptus, and Lusitania have been covered with informational texts, graphics and most of their cities have been filled in. But it's a big Empire, and we will be regularly "rolling out" new areas for you to enjoy!
I particularly would like you to take a look at the following provinces and cities of The Roman World: Leptis Magnain Africa Pronconsularis Mons Palatinus in Rome, Italia Colonia Agrippinensis in Germania Inferior Caere in Italia Conimbriga in Lusitania Enjoy checking them out and reading the information! Citybuilders are open to ALL interested citizens - if you would enjoy doing research and providing details for our "under construction" Roman neighborhoods, please contact Heraklia Aelius, Cornellia Cornelius, or Tanaquil Sergius. As for the weeks ahead, Rome will be immersed in its holiday SATURNALIA celebrations in December, and will be busy handing out awards to our CityBuilders (suitable plques to be provided). Rome passed a landmark recently - the 5,000th member of the Roman World has been welcomed in the persona of Raj Caesar. We celebrated with an extra fine jug of Falernian!
