We can see that if we were to follow in the footsteps of the great acharyas, the world would most definately be a much healthier and peaceful place for everyone to live in. But this age is chaotic by nature, and so we see constant wars.
![]() This has become a godless society due to the degrading nature of the age. The government's job is to make sure that the citizens are happy and living nicely. However, today's government is greedy, untrustworthy and deceiptful. There are no more righteous kings and no one worthy of such a post, because they are misled to believe that material opulence is the goal of human life. But the wisdom of the ancients', no matter from which part of the world, was apparently far beyond what modern men are taught. They knew that nobody could ever hope to keep what they worked for because death is ahead. The ancients understood the meaning of God as the controller of everything and that no material thing could ever belong to a created being. Today's people are misguided, lazy, unhappy, and plain downright ignorant compared with the people of the third age or earlier. Now it is common for people to say, "what ever you think is okay." This is actually a very dangerous way of thinking, because such people do not know what kind of a body they are going to take next. They do not realize that they are in danger of taking a body of one of the lower animals or even plant life next life, and so they go on trying to enjoy the present body, simply fulfilling the various hankerings of the senses. These hankerings are never satisfied because the senses are not the self. The self is forever seeking truth and if the truth is not found, the senses mislead one into thinking that the body and its senses are the self. This is called illusion. Actually, the material body of our puny perception is nothing more than earth, water and fire. These elements along with the more subtle material elements, namely, air, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego, are not the self, nor are they even part of the self. For the self is eternal and unchanging. The body may change, but the self always remains the self. Nowadays, people are under so many illusions that they are actually trying to disprove the existence of God. The fact they are ignoring is that they themselves are in existence and are living beings. Common sense tells one that because one exists, there must be an original being from whom we have come. Otherwise it is very unscientific to think that we have arisen by chance. Have you ever done anything by chance, or did you choose to make that move. I for one have never done anything by chance. Everything I've done was by choice. To put this in a nutshell, nothing has ever happened in the universe without being caused by a conscious being who made the decision to go in that direction. Therefore, it would be very unscientific to say that the wind in blowing merely by chance. It is blowing by choice. One of the symptoms of this age is for people to basically believe in nothing except matter, even though they know very well of their own existence. |
