You have chosen to go Northeasterly.

What the heck, you may as well start to the northeast - no reason not to. So Sven and the rest of the crew do what it is they have to do in order to shift the direction of the longboat. You sit near the stern, just watching their muscles glistening in the filtered sun.

The islands are beautiful, you feel like this would make a good home. You know that other Norsemen have been inhabiting the area for hundreds of years, as well as some Gaelic peoples. You shrug as you determine sharing such a beautiful place would be worth the view and the beauty. You know that farmers have settled more than one islands and that crops are sown and even animals thrive here. The crewmembers are quieter than usual as you all enjoy the sights.

After meandering your way through several islands and even landing at a few place to visit the locals and hike around the islands, you begin to feel more and more comfortable. The people are welcoming and share their food - not afraid of you in the least, longboat and all. Soon, some of the crew are helping around a farm or two and time has flown past and now it is too late to sail for home.
"Too much ice, too many storms between us and home", Sven explains as you all talk around a warm fire. Sven doesn't seem too upset by this, as he is not married and has no ties at home anyway.

After the snow melts in spring, the crew starts preparing again for the sail back home. You realize that you really are happy here. You all built a sturdy yet small longhouse in the fall to sleep in and well, you have made a lot of friends. Plus, there are still plenty of islands to explore. You explain to the captain that you want to stay. He is not surprised, not is he shocked when Sven says he will stay as well. "Such is the life of a viking, sometimes the sea stops calling you home", the captain murmers to Sven's retreating back.

You do take the time to go to the shore to watch the ship sail away, feeling a little homesick. But after her sails fall below the horizon, you turn around and stare at the beauty around you, glad to decided to stay.

THE END
